Glassbrook Vocal Ensemble: Who Will Sing for Peace?

The Glassbrook Vocal Ensemble, Chaequan Anderson, artistic director, open Music at Abington’s 50th Anniversary Season with “Who Will Sing for Peace?” a program of traditional choral repertoire and new music. The program points the listener toward our deep connections to one another and examines those connections through poetry, scripture, spirituals and choral settings of beauty and urgency. Composers represented on the program include the renaissance composer and theorist Vicente Lusitano, celebrated American music icon Moses Hogan, and flourishing contemporary composers Melissa Dunphy, Brandon Waddles, Christopher Harris, and Douglas Helvering.

Glassbrook Vocal Ensemble is a professional level choir based in Ewing, NJ, seeking to enrich the lives of those in diverse communities by supplying the highest caliber of choral music-making. Glassbrook presents captivating concert experiences through  collaboration with local musicians, arts organizations, and venues. The choir balances traditional choral music with premieres of new compositions to create varied programs for modern audiences. Under the artistic direction of Chaequan Anderson, the ensemble has quickly made a name for itself in the greater tri-state area and has performed in venues across New Jersey and Philadelphia in solo programs and collaborations with organizations such as Princeton Girlchoir and Westminster Conservatory.

The concert is presented Sunday, Oct 24, 4:00pm, in the sanctuary at Abington Presbyterian Church, 1082 Old York Road, Abington, PA, and runs about one hour. All are invited to the concert and a simple outdoor reception to greet the artists. The program is presented for free (freewill donations gratefully received) both in person on livestreamed at Music at Abington’s YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/7mgzwn0Wci8.
