Worship as a community of faith has been central for over three centuries as to who we are as Abington Presbyterian Church.  We seek to be a house of prayer for all people, so whether you are familiar with worship in a Presbyterian congregation or not, you are welcome here.  With the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, we are worshiping in ways where all can be safe.

Simple Gifts Worship –  8:00 a.m.

This worship service, beginning September 20, takes place outside on our north lawn, with chairs set out so that attendees can all be socially distanced.  Attendees are required to wear masks and to register their planned attendance ahead of time by clicking here.   During this time of pandemic concerns, the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated during this service on the first Sunday of the month, with the elements served in individual-wrapped packets for safety.

Celebration Worship  – 10:00 a.m.

Celebration Worship is our service that is being livestreamed from our sanctuary at 10 a.m. on Sundays.  In-person attendance is not currently allowed because of the pandemic.  Click here to go to the livestream service.  The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is celebrated remotely on the first Sunday of each month.  We look forward to announcing when we can have in-person attendance for this service, but our congregation’s pandemic programming work team, in following the safety guidelines from the governor’s office, has determined that time is not yet here.

Special Services

Ash Wednesday, with ashes and communion, marks the beginning of the season of Lent.
Maundy Thursday observes the institution of the Lord’s Supper.
Good Friday is a time to reflect on the crucifixion of our Lord.
Easter, with services outdoors and indoors, is a celebration of our Lord’s resurrection.
Christmas Eve, with multiple services, celebrates God’s coming into our world in the birth of Jesus.

All are welcome to these special services!

The Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month in-person at the outdoor Simple Gifts service at 8:00 a.m. and is celebrated virtually on the first Sunday of the month during our livestreamed Celebration Worship at 10 a.m.  Virtual communion is observed when you have bread and grape juice at home and participate along with others in the congregation through the liturgy offered during the livestream service.

We look forward to when baptisms can once again be scheduled and celebrated.  Contact one of the pastors to express your desire to schedule a baptism.
