When Ezekiel asks, “Can these bones live?” he is speaking about the fate of the Jewish people, using dry bones as a powerful metaphor for their anguish and loss of hope. But what happens when we, as individuals, experience our own kind of despair brought on by life’s overwhelming challenges? What can we do when we feel that “our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are cut off completely”?
