PA Laws for Volunteers Working With Children
Child Clearances are now up for renewal for most of our volunteers
All volunteers who work with children or youth at Abington Presbyterian Church are required to provide a PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA Criminal Background Check and an FBI Clearance with fingerprinting. For our congregation this includes anyone who teaches or shepherds Sunday School, nursery volunteers, choir parents, fellowship advisors, retreat chaperones and all adults who have contact with children through a volunteer job. The law went into effect in 2015 and clearances are valid for 60 months, or 5 years. Many of our volunteers are now in need of updated clearances on file. Volunteers who have lived in Pennsylvania for the past 10 years can be expempted from the FBI clearance by signing an Affirmation of Residency.
Information about PA clearances for volunteers can be found here.
