Lloyd Shorter joins the Abington Symphony Orchestra in the Concerto for Oboe d’amore by Bach. The balance of tenderness and joy in this work is paralleled by the variations in color and tone of Dvorak’s Serenade for winds and the beautiful and contrasting explorations which mark our featured choral work, Haydn’s Mass in D, “Lord Nelson”. Also known as the Mass in Troubled Times, this work of depth and beauty contrasts the range of emotions possible with full Oratorio Choir and professional soloists accompanied by the Abington Symphony Orchestra.
