2018 Annual Report

2018 Capital Campaign Commitment Card

March 17, 2019

What does it mean for ‘Stand Firm’ as we live out our faith?  That will be what we are exploring in the sermon this Sunday based on scripture readings from Psalm 27 and Philippians 3:17-4:1.  We will also be welcoming new members this Sunday.  Worship at 8 a.m. will be in the chapel.  Worship at 10 a.m. will be in the sanctuary.  Fancy Fellowship will follow the 10 a.m. worship service in the Parish Hall.

If you are interested in learning about your genealogy, come to Adult Forum this Sunday morning.  Mary Washington will be our leader, answering questions about how to begin and what sources you might access.  Parlor at 8:45.  Our Adult Bible Study continues to focus on the Book of Jonah.  Room 108 at 8:45.

Please be in prayer for our youth as our confirmation group and the rest of our youth are on retreat this weekend.

One Church, One Book, One Movie – we had the discussion of the novel, Wonder, recently.  Now you are invited to see the movie version on Friday, March 22, from 7-9 p.m. in the Parish Hall.  It will be a great intergenerational event!  For more information, please contact Ruth Sall.

If you do not have a Lenten devotional yet, you are encouraged to pick up a free one that focuses on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount with daily readings.

On Sunday mornings during Lent, the indoor labyrinth will be available for walking in the Parish Hall. All are welcome to travel on this ancient experience of prayer and pilgrimage. Our children will also experience the labyrinth as part of prayer centers for Sunday School during Lent.

During this Lenten season, you are also encouraged to participate in the One Great Hour of Sharing, a special offering of our denomination that funds Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and the Self-Development of People program.  More information will be coming.

Each Sunday, there is an opportunity to donate flowers for worship in memory or in honor of a loved one.  The $40 arrangement is then delivered to sick, homebound, or hospitalized members of our congregation.  To donate, please call the church office.

We celebrate that the weather has finally gotten warm and dry enough that a temporary fix could be placed on our Christian Education roof where it was leaking.  Plans are for that roof to be replaced as part of the capital campaign during the summer of 2020.

Thanks to all who helped with the Blood Drive last Sunday, either through volunteering or donating!

There is much for which to be grateful,

Kirby Lawrence Hill
