THIS WEEK AT ABINGTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

June 17, 2018

It is growing season.  The grass, flowers, vegetables and weeds are all growing.  This Sunday, our scripture lessons are 2 Corinthians 5:6-17 and Mark 4:26-34 with a sermon titled “What’s Growing?”

There are plenty of growth opportunities around here.  Next week is our Vacation Bible School.  Almost one hundred children will be a part of the program with a focus on Bible water stories.  Thanks goes to the 22 youth and 25 adult volunteers who make this growth opportunity possible!

The following week are a couple of more growth opportunities: 28 will be going to Maine on our annual mission trip.  The focus will be in rehabbing houses for those in need.  If you are able to make a financial contribution in support of the trip, that would be welcome!  The same week 11 of our junior highs and 3 adults will attend a junior high youth conference at Massanetta in Harrisonburg, VA.

Here’s a couple of health opportunities: Deacons are sponsoring our next American Red Cross blood drive on Sunday, July 1.  Please give if you are able.

Our fifth 5K run called the Summer Soaker will be Saturday, July 21st.  You can go ahead and sign up and start training.  Register at runtheday.com

Here’s mental health opportunity: Come to the Laurel and Hardy movies accompanied by organist Michael Britt on Tuesday, June 19 at 7:30.  It’s a Music At Abington program, so you know it will be good!

Thanks to all who made our picnic last Sunday a great time, even with the rain that moved much of what we were doing inside.

What kind of growth and health will God be bringing?  I look forward to finding out!
