2018 Annual Report

2018 Capital Campaign Commitment Card

Work of Faith, Labor of Love, Steadfastness of Hope has been our stewardship theme as we look toward being able to fund APC’s active ministry in 2020.  This Sunday, October 20, is Pledge Sunday.  Please prayerfully consider making as generous a pledge as you are able.  Bring your pledge card you received in the congregational mailing or use one that will be in the pews.  Our scripture lessons for the day are Psalm 146 and the passage from which we get our stewardship theme, 1 Thessalonians 1:1-8.  There is plenty else going on this Sunday as well: come to welcome our new members that will be introduced during our 10 a.m. service, and stay for the congregational catered luncheon following the 10 a.m. service where we will honor the Rev. Diane Jamison Fitch for her seven years of dedicated service to APC.

Also happening Sunday morning: Adult Forum class will focus on “Understanding Asylum for U.S. Immigrants.” Immigration lawyer Jack Herzig will be speaking about legal aspects while Mehr Daniel Austin will share her experiences as one seeking asylum.  This class meets in the parlor at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday.

The Bible Study class that is studying the book of Galatians meets in Room 108 at 8:45 on Sunday.

This Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m., you are invited to a service to dedicate the Mentoring Room at West Kensington Ministry, 2140 Hancock Street, Philadelphia.  Funds from our capital campaign paid for this mentoring room to be established, which supports a mentoring program which is vital to their ministry in a challenging part of town.

We are reaching some deadlines for APC’s planned mission trip to Puerto Rico to do repair work on houses following hurricane damage.  If you have interest in going on this trip from March 1-6, 2020, please contact Mary Stock or Kirby Lawrence Hill in the next few days!

Coming up next week, Sunday, October 27

Looking Ahead:

“A Day to Listen and Share: Considering Justice” will be held at Abington Presbyterian Church on Sunday, November 10.

This will be an apolitical, interfaith, intercultural conversa-tion that provides an opportunity for discernment on the

concept of justice; to provide a forum for safe dialogue be-tween people with different faiths, backgrounds, and political

leanings; to promote interfaith understanding; to equip us to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with our

God (Micah 6:8)

3 pm: Introductory Conversation and Refreshments

4:15 pm: Moderated Panel: Informing the Conversation —Question and Answer

5:30 pm: Meal and Conversation Reflection

6:30 Dismissal with Benediction

I am thankful for the work of faith, labor of love, with a steadfastness of hope that I see at APC,

Kirby Lawrence Hill
