Celebration Worship 11/17/19

Abington Presbyterian Life 11/17/19

2018 Annual Report

2018 Capital Campaign Commitment Card

This Sunday, November 17, in worship we will focus on how we are called to be dreamers, and what should shape those dreams.  The scripture passages will be Psalm 118:1-9; 19-29 and Isaiah 65:17-25.  The 8:00 service will be in the chapel and the 10:00 service will be in the sanctuary.

In Adult Education offerings:

Dr. Stephen Kim continues leading the Bible Study class on Galatians.  Room 108 at 8:45 a.m. on Sundays.

In Adult Forum, Suzin Weber will be joining me on in leadership on November 17 as we explore Presbyterian Guidelines for Interpreting Scripture.  This program will be followed by another session on November 24 where those guidelines are applied to a particular issue, as we seek to come to a scriptural understanding of LGBTQ people.  In the parlor at 8:45 a.m.

Before then is our next Theological Book Club gathering: On Saturday, November 16 at 8:00 a.m., the meeting will be in my office to discuss "Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others" by Barbara Brown Taylor.  You are welcome whether you have read the book or not.

Looking Ahead: APC has a 69-year history of joining with faith communities in the area for a Thanksgiving service. This year, on Tuesday, November 26 at 7:30 p.m., the interfaith service will be hosted by St. Anne’s Episcopal Church at the northwest corner of Old Welsh Road and Old York Road.  Our youth bell choir and members of our chancel choir will have parts of the service.  A community-building reception will follow the service.

Thanks to all who assisted with the Youth Pancake Breakfast and the Day to Listen and Share Concerning Justice.  They were both wonderful events.

At this point we are 80% toward our goal of pledges totaling $665,000.  There are quite a number of pledges outstanding.  If you have not gotten your pledge card for 2020 into the office, please do so at this time.  Thank you!

With gratitude and hope,

Kirby Lawrence Hill
