2018 Capital Campaign Commitment Card

July 22, 2018

This past week, close to forty children have been a part of our music and drama camp called Noah’s Arts Camp for Kids (NACK).  Led by Ruth and John Sall, they have been learning the story of Jonah through learning a musical called, “Oh, Jonah!”  That musical will be presented during worship this Sunday at our 10 a.m. worship service.  The story of Jonah has a message for today, so I hope you won’t miss this whale of a tale.  Our 8 a.m. worship service, held outside, will also focus on the story of Jonah, but without the benefit of the children’s singing and acting.

Thanks to Rev. Jack Norrie, who served as our guest preacher last Sunday.

It is not too late to participate in our fifth annual 5K Summer Soaker!  This Saturday, July 21, the race begins at 8:30 a.m. at the church.  Register to run or sign up to volunteer. There is also a free 300-meter dash for children 10 and under at 9:30 a.m.  Sign up at www.runtheday.com Adults can participate for $30 until race day.  Children are $20.  This year's proceeds will go to fight homelessness in Philadelphia through Back On My Feet and the event also supports the firefighters of the Abington Fire Company who help the runners keep cool during the race.  Visit the above website or email apc5krun@gmail.com for more information.  Many thanks to Justin Feil and all of his helpers for working on this event.

Thanks to those who have supported the program called Backpacks for theVillage.  We are helping 50 children and their families Connected to theVillage.  Please have the filled backpacks to the church by August 5th.

Initial meetings with our architect who will be working with us on the elevator project funded by the capital campaign are taking place.  In a few weeks, digging will take place to determine where there is rock below the surface that might give information about how best to move forward with the project.

Looking ahead: Sunday, July 29, Kirby will be starting a five-week sermon series called, “It’s About Time.”

Homecoming Sunday will be September 9th.  Former pastor Rev. Dr. Brent Eelman will be our guest preacher that day!

Our family was blessed to get to be in Vermont last week for a family wedding and to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.  I hope your summer is refreshing for you.

Grace & Peace,

Rev. Kirby Lawrence Hill
